Austin zoo

On Saturday we went to the zoo and had a blast. Charlie enjoyed all of the noises the animals made and then spent most of the time asleep in the baby Bjorn. Mark and I had a blast feeding all of the animals and it was just nice being outside in such beautiful weather.

Charlie and I are flying out to Houston today to spend some time with Pop on his birthday and then The Odom's (Grammy and Papaw) are picking us up and driving us home on Thursday. Charlie is so excited to see all of his grandparents this week.

A busy week

Charlie has started to crawl!! Well more like scoot along the ground but he's getting pretty good at it. He is much better at going backwards than forward so it's pretty funny to watch him.

Still no teeth!! We are not sure what's taking it so long to come in because at Christmas it looked like it was braking through the gum but everyday I look and NOTHING! I guess I should be thankful and hope he doesn't get teeth for a while but I can't wait to see what he'll look like with teeth.

We have new additions to the Odom family. Over the past month I have been feeding two ferrel cats that are very banged up and not very trusting. It's taken a while but they have started to eat when we are outside and every morning when we go outside they come running up for food. We still have not gotten close enough to touch them but Charlie and I like the challenge! We decided they had been around long enough to give names, so after a long discussion( over email) Mark and I decided to name them Brisco and Bauer. We named Brisco after Lenny Brisco from Law and Order because he's tough but a lot nicer than Bauer. Bauer is missing part of his ear and has a giant gash across his back so he is named after Jack Bauer... yes we watch to much crime tv and are dorks!!! We don't know their sex or if they are related but they seem to get along and look a lot alike.

I'll try to get a better picture of them! Baur is the black one and Brisco is the black and white one.

Charlie's playroom

So last week Mark and I decided that if no one is going to buy our house we had to make it more child friendly so we began the task of turning our guest room into a playroom. It cost me all of my Christmas money (thanks Emma, Pop, Grammy and Papaw) to get it perfect. The past weekend was a bit stressful but we got it looking VERY nice. I have to say Kristen inspired this endeavour by giving us an amazing hand painted bulletin board(she did herself) and we needed a place to hang it... so we created a new room for it!!! We moved all of my furniture out of the room and moved Mark's old bed in so if we have house guest we at least have a place for them to sleep. Though we do realize by adding this playroom we basically put an end to house guest until we move but we still have the lake house for friends and family to stay so we don't feel to guilty. We left the desk and computer and it all fits perfectly.

This picture is not of the new playroom but I had to show the new artwork we got to hang over Charlie's bed.

The bulletin board that started it all!

Charlie enjoying his new playroom! He loves it!

We are still waiting for a few green canvas bags for the shelf but the should be in shortly.

We also are having some of our furniture recovered to make the living room look refreshed! Poor Mark told me yesterday that he was done with home improvement projects for a while but I still have a few more ideas!!!

On another note I felt like I must share a revaluation I had yesterday while we were at the Dr's office getting Charlie's flu shots. Mark has not missed one Dr's appointment since I found out I was pregnant. He went to every OB appointment and now he goes to everyone of Charlie's appointments. He comes home every time he can to see Charlie and I at lunch! He is an amazing father and husband and we are VERY lucky to have him and we love him VERY much! Sorry to get a bit sentimental but I can't help it! He is going to kill me for posting this!

Christmas and our Telluride vacation

Mark and I had a great Christmas but Charlie is not so sure he's a fan. Poor guy had a 103 fever, ear ache and started to get his first tooth! Hopefully next year he'll be feeling better and get to enjoy the holidays.

We spent Christmas eve with all of my Galveston family and had a blast! We were very sad Mimi was not feeling well enough to join in the celebration but I got to go see her and give her the photo book Kristen and I made for her. Feel better MIMI!!!
Poor Charlie was not feeling well but he handled all of the traveling like a champ. We spent Christmas morning with Mark's family and they spoiled us rotten. We opened stockings at Grammy and Papaw's condo and ate my favorite breakfast I look forward to every year. Then we went over to Kelly's house for presents under the tree. I love Christmas with Mark's family!!

At about 1:30 we left Galveston to head to Houston to celebrate Christmas with my family. Charlie was really not feeling well by this point so I didn't take as many pictures but it was a wonderful time. I love seeing Will and Lauren so happy! Jay brought his girlfriend Jennifer to Christmas dinner and she survived her first Mullen Christmas.

That night was one of the worst nights I can remember. Charlie's fever spiked and Mark and I were up all night. We were able to get it down from 103 to 100 in about 30 min but I was pretty freaked out! Poor baby and poor Mark and I! Though I must say for our child's first illness we handled it pretty great.
We were not able to go home until Sunday because of Charlie's sickness but it all worked out well. Charlie was able to see his God mother Eve.

We went to the Dr on Monday to find out Charlie had a double ear infection but we got some medicine and in a few days he was fine.

On Dec. 30 we left for Telluride Co. to go stay with our good friends Laine and Duncan. We had a rough time getting there because of a snow storm but Charlie was AMAZING! He never really cried on the plane or in the car. Mark went skiing for 2 of the days we were there and Charlie and I played with Laine. We had so much fun! One night we were able to get a babysitter and went out to dinner and then to a bar. It was great to get out and about.
